Valley of Roses and Dades Gorges Day Trip
One of the most requested days out of Ouarzazate: the Valley of Roses, fortified villages, cave dwelling nomads and the Dades Gorges.
A full day recommended for photographers, nature lovers and anyone who enjoys changing colours, contrasting landscapes and fortified kasbahs. The Valley of Roses lies between the parallel ranges of the High Atlas and Jebel Saghro.
After the Skoura palm grove you reach Kalaat Mgouna, where the rose festival takes place in May. The rose valley track starts here and leads through fortified Berber villages to Ait Youl and its abandoned kasbah, with a stop to visit nomad families living in caves. You continue to the Dades Gorges for lunch in a local restaurant, then return to Ouarzazate through the Dades Valley and Boumalne.
