A museum in a city of cinema
Ouarzazate is part of the UNESCO Creative Cities Network for its contribution to film, and its studios and museum blend the magic of cinema with the cultural heritage of the region. The Cinema Museum displays film set decors, from painted backdrops to columned halls, and is itself occasionally used for shooting films and television series.
Practical information
The museum stands on Boulevard Mohamed V, right opposite Taourirt Kasbah in the centre of Ouarzazate. Entry costs 80 MDH for adults and 40 MDH for children. It opens Monday to Saturday from 10 am to 5 pm and is closed on Sunday. Plan 1 hour to 1 hour 30 for the visit. Hours and fees can change, so check them locally or call the museum before you go.
Next door: Taourirt Kasbah
Once you have finished at the museum, simply walk across the street to Taourirt Kasbah, the symbol of Ouarzazate and a former residence of Thami Glaoui. Together the two visits make an easy half day in town. Film lovers can continue to Atlas Film Studios on the Marrakech road, just outside the city.
